SPIRO Secures $215 Million to Accelerate Electric Mobility Across Africa

African electric mobility company SPIRO has secured a massive $215 million funding round to expand its electric vehicle and energy infrastructure operations across the continent.
The funding marks another major milestone for Africa’s growing clean transportation ecosystem and highlights increasing investor confidence in sustainable mobility solutions built for African markets.
Today, SPIRO operates more than 100,000 electric motorcycles across seven African countries, alongside over 2,500 battery-swapping stations. The company has also completed more than 30 million battery swaps, showing strong adoption of electric mobility solutions across the region.
The investment will help SPIRO scale its infrastructure, technology, industrial operations, and partnerships as demand for affordable and reliable transportation continues to grow.
SPIRO’s expansion reflects a broader shift happening across Africa, where startups and investors are increasingly focusing on clean energy, climate technology, and sustainable transportation systems.
As fuel prices rise and urban mobility challenges increase, electric mobility solutions like SPIRO’s could play a major role in shaping the future of transportation across Africa.
